June 2015

School holidays start today and already phone calls are coming in from anglers wanting a charter.
A relatively quiet month for June but July is well booked already. Looks like the mackerel and tuna have moved on with
no reports of any pelagics around, but the demersals continue with some of the best weather to come in the next couple of months.
Shark Bay turns it on
Charlie Regnault took my 7.8m boat up to Shark Bay for an extended trip with three other mates. He did the same trip a
couple of years ago and did well on red emperor. This time the group only got one red but landed a lot of snapper, baldchin and cods. None of the fish
were XXX but quantity made up for the catch.
Very patriotic flying the flag on the boat outside their accommodation and
Charlie with one of the many baldchin groper they caught.

Lots of snapper on the filleting table
and a baitfish eye view of an estuary cod.
The spangled emperor were also plentiful.
Harry and Ryan from Fishing WA were up this month checking out my charter operation. They were doing a reconnaissance
and will be back to shoot a couple of shows from my boat.
I will keep you in the loop as to when it will show on TV.

The cameraman in action filming the big rankin cod that Ryan jigged up.

Sheridan and Dave had a great time on a charter this week. A bit of rare rain was a worry first up but
It cleared early on and the day only got better.

Fishing was a bit slow to start and I had to search around but came up trumps with a great coral trout for Dave that would have gone 6kgs.
Then Sheridan hooked up to this nice dhuie before Dave even had his fish in the boat.

Matt landed a nice baldchin as well as scarlet sea perch, while red-throat emperors, flathead, and other stuff made up the catch.
First fish went to Sheridan who put this nice spangled emperor in the esky

Some YouTube stuff
If you have not seen all my fishing videos, here is a link to my YouTube Chanel where they all are

A big mangrove jack for Jacob,
and a dhuie for Pat during a charter.
Landed in 30m of water over a reef edge.

Kalbarri Offshore & Angling Club Local Comp.
27th June 2015
The local comp was over the same weekend that the west coast was experiencing that massive swell.
I did not launch my boat, call me chicken, but it was really pounding!
I elected to try for a big tailor. I hooked a very good one at Chinaman's, but dropped it after a few minutes.
The following morning I fished Blue Holes for a tailor and got one about 2.5kgs and thought I was doing OK.
At the weigh-in Daniel had two bigger than mine
and Frank had 2 bigger than Daniel’s.
Frank’s biggest went 5.4kg, the biggest for the year so far.
A 1.14kg for Cheryl was the biggest for the year so far, but her combined bag of 4 bream were not good enough
to beat 4 other chunky bream.

Bite of the Month
Dave’s big coral trout wins Bite of the Month. Fishing a slow bite, this fish monstered his bait waking him up quickly.
Each month I award Bite of the Month to someone who catches the best fish
from one of my boats.

Need a boat for up north?
Remember I will deliver a boat out to the turn-off for free for those heading north.
