Mainly it is hard to
get to places you want and when there hard to stay on top of the good
spots due to the
wind. It’s when I get a lot of maintenance done, and go on holiday.
There is also the
demersal ban which starts on the 15th October for 2 months.
Annual Billbash
It’s in September when the Invitation
Marlin Billbash is on in Exmouth. A bit of a private marlin and fishing
comp that a group of anglers with boats
go to Exmouth each year. Dave Mostert and son Doug usually hire one of
my boats & this year took my 7.8m
boat “Bamba Zonke” to compete with in
the comp. Calling themselves
Mtoko Mambas (You
have to be from Zimbabwe to understand) did very well landing all sorts of fish
and coming 2nd overall.
Well done to all.
There were dolphin
fish,
mackerel
Six marlin
Sailfish
& plenty of tuna
Annual
Shark Bay Expedition
Ryan D’Almeida and a few mates make an
annual trip up to Shark Bay. I call it
an expedition as Ryan and some of the group come
all the way from Sydney, pick up the
7.8m boat from me on their way to Denham and then make the crossing over to
Dirk Hartog
Island, and stay in one of the shacks
by the Homestead. They take everything with them including their firewood and
spend a week
fishing the west side.
This year the weather was better than
most times and they had a ball.
They were really pleased with their sailfish,
first for the group.
& plenty of good fish from the bottom,
although
the photos only show a few of what they caught.
A few catches from my boats
Deter Ludewig landed
a nice snapper
Leigh landed this
baldchin while out on charter
& French
travellers Aurelie, lydie, Alain, Anthony, Maxime, and Amandine, took the 6.1m
boat past the Sand Patch and saw whales,
dolphins and landed a
baldchin groper among other fish.
Strange Fish
We caught this
red bigeye out on charter last week. About 30cm in size, the first ever caught
in my boat.
I was not sure
what it was but identified it as a red bigeye Priacanthus macracanthus.
while Jo landed two mulloway from the beach
Bite of the Month
Catching a sailfish
is a team effort but a big bite for the group up at Dirk Hartog Island
made their trip.
Great catch guys.
Each month I award Bite of the
Month to someone who catches the best fish
from one of my boats.
Kalbarri Sports Fishing Classic
Currently my 7.8m,
6.5m and 6.1m are booked for this big event, so only the 5.3m and a 6.5m boats are
left.
If you want to make
up a team and hire a boat, book one now before they all book up.
I will give you all
the support I can and all the good waypoints and info on how, where and what
you need to catch
good fish.
It’s going to be a
